MANN+HUMMEL Shows Latest Solutions for Filtration of Pollutants in Air and Water at Pollutec Environmental Fair in Lyon

The consequences of environmental pollution and climate change are probably the greatest challenges of our time. At Pollutec, the trade fair for environmental and energy technology, in Lyon, MANN+HUMMEL will be showing how innovative technologies can contribute to greater sustainability in the use of natural resources. As one of the leading suppliers of environmental technologies, MANN+HUMMEL will be presenting parts of its product range from the “Cleaner Water” and “Cleaner Air” sectors, including the latest filtration solutions for industry and for private use.

A particularly innovative example of sustainable water management is the new BIO-CEL® M+ membrane bioreactor

Although every human being has the right to a clean, healthy and sustainable environment according to the UN resolution of July 28, 2022, the reality is different. It is estimated that seven million people die prematurely each year from particulate matter, nitrogen oxides and other air pollutants, accounting for more than ten per cent of all deaths. Two billion people have no regular access to clean water. At the same time, the demand for industrial and drinking water is increasing by about one per cent a year. In addition, longer dry seasons and falling groundwater levels are causing water to become scarce. In this complex mix, the effective filtration of air, like the treatment of water, is becoming increasingly important.

Filtration solutions for process and wastewater
In view of the increasing demand for water and water scarcity, the recovery and reuse of process water and wastewater has become a growing trend. MANN+HUMMEL Water & Membrane Solutions will present membrane and filtration solutions for specific water and wastewater requirements in Lyon. Reverse osmosis (RO) membranes such as the MICRODYN RO series are specifically designed for water treatment applications. They remove virtually all dissolved salts (ions), particles and organic matter and are used, for example, to purify boiler feed water as well as for seawater desalination. A particularly innovative example of sustainable water management is the new BIO-CEL® M+ membrane bioreactor. A high-performance ultrafiltration membrane improves effluent quality preventing antibiotic-resistant bacteria from entering the aquatic environment, while its modular and flexible design makes it a perfect fit for decentralized and mobile wastewater treatment plants.

Seccua: solutions for drinking water filtration
MANN+HUMMEL subsidiary Seccua will present its solutions for drinking water filtration at Pollutec. For water treatment in private households, public buildings, companies and municipalities, Seccua uses ultrafiltration technology. At its heart is a membrane that retains even the smallest particles from drinking water and removes virtually all bacteria, parasites and viruses, without chemicals or UV irradiation. Optionally, dissolved substances can also be adsorbed by means of a separately available bio-filter. The solutions are installed at the point-of-entry (entry of the main water line into the building), at the point-of-use (tapping point) or at the waterworks. MANN+HUMMEL offers the Seccua MK 7 especially as a compact point-of-use filter for use under the kitchen sink.

Cleaner Air: solutions for cleaning indoor air
Unlike outdoor air pollutants, little attention is paid to indoor air pollution, although it is calculated that it can be up to five times higher. Of the seven million premature deaths attributed to air pollutants according to the WHO, more than half are believed to be linked to polluted indoor air. Under the motto “Cleaner Air”, MANN+HUMMEL will be showcasing its solutions for cleaning indoor air, which benefit the protection of people, processes and the environment.

A key topic at the trade show is how to increase air quality while significantly reducing operating costs. After all, around eight per cent of the energy consumption of an average building is attributable to the air filters in the areas of heating, ventilation and air conditioning. With the industry’s largest range of A+ class air filters, MANN+HUMMEL will be presenting appropriate solutions that improve air quality and reduce operating costs. In addition, the company will present its media expertise for toxic and corrosive gases. These materials are used in particular in sensitive areas such as medical or pharmaceutical facilities or also in microchip production.

(Digital) solutions for optimizing operating costs
In addition to application-specific filtration solutions, MANN+HUMMEL will be showing in Lyon how energy costs can be saved in building management. To this end, MANN+HUMMEL is combining its comprehensive filtration expertise with digital, data-driven solutions. These include the latest IoT solutions for indoor air quality management from “qlair”, which help to save labor as well as a significant amount of energy in commercial buildings, as well as an app that allows Seccua UH15 water filters to be controlled quickly and easily.

Pollutec, international trade fair for environmental and energy technology, will take place in Lyon from 10 to 13 October. MANN+HUMMEL will welcome its visitors at the joint stand of Baden-Württemberg International. (H4 G070D)
