WaterTech Asia 2025: Seven Experts Confirmed As Speakers, Panellists 

‘Country Spotlight’ by Canadian delegate, among highlights.

THE inaugural WaterTech Asia 2025 exhibition and conference this 2-4 December 2025 will be held at the newly-built Penang Waterfront Convention Centre (PWCC), Malaysia. WaterTech Asia 2025 offers prime opportunity to connect with regional stakeholders, utilities and the major industrial based that is often referred to as the “Silicon Valley of the East”. 

The water industry, which covers critical areas such as water supply, industrial wastewater treatment, conservation and resource management, plays a crucial role in ensuring access to clean water for drinking, agriculture, industry and sustainability.

WaterTech Asia 2025 is also proud to have the Penang water supply operator, PBAHB, as the presenting organisation and further supported by regional stakeholders such as Syarikat Air Perlis, Lembaga Air Perak, Syarikat Air Darul Aman (for the state of Kedah) and Syarikat Air Kelantan. That, combined with the support and participation from Malaysia’s national water asset holder, PAAB, makes Watertech Asia 2025 a first of its kind in Penang and providing a platform to reach out and share the latest within the water and wastewater industries. 

The event will amplify efforts to position Malaysia as a regional hub for water management professionals and supporting industries, fostering regional and global growth opportunities. It will, among others, provide a platform for international industry players, products, services and professionals to converge, and offer them a marketing opportunity to expand their regional foot print.

WaterTech Asia 2025 will facilitate dialogue between policymakers/stakeholders on the importance of shared responsibilities in water management and distribution, enable new business opportunities via business matching sessions with industry players and give trade visitors hands-on experience to explore products and services from the global water industry.

For the first two days, WaterTech Asia 2025 will also host an enriching industry conference titled “Managing Growth of Water Consumption in the Era of the Digital Economy – Sharing Resources Between The Consumer And Industrial Requirements”, involving experts from the public and private sectors. These include:

  • Datuk Dr Ching Too a/l Kim, Secretary-General of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Sustainability: “Driving Water Technology Development and Innovation in Enhancing Malaysia’s Water Resources Sustainability in the Context of Water Sector Transformation 2040”.
  • Datuk Ir Pathmanathan a/l Krisnan Kutty Raman Nair, Group CEO of PBAHB and Penang Water Supply Corporation (PBAPP): “Addressing Water Supply Sustainability in the Context of Financial Viability, Water Scarcity, Water Supply-Demand Imbalance, and Climate Change in Penang State”. 
  • Datuk Seri Ir Jaseni Maidinsa, Chairman of PAAB: “Resolving Inter-basin Water Issues and Conflicts: Learning from Worldwide Experiences and Suggestions for the Way Forward”.
  • Mohd Farid Mohamed Nor, Director and Chief Operations Officer of Molecor (SEA) Sdn Bhd:Circular Water Economy in Industrial Development”.

A panel discussion titled “Main Issues, Major Challenges and the Way Forward in Driving Water Technology Development and Innovation in Achieving Water Resources Sustainability” will also take place during the event and will be moderated by Prof Emeritus Dato’ Dr Chan Ngai Weng, Professor Emeritus of Universiti Sains Malaysia and President of Water Watch Penang. Distinguished panellists during the discussion include:

  • Prof Dato’ Ir Dr Nor Azazi Zakaria, United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO) Chair, River Engineering and Urban Drainage Research Centre (REDAC).
  • Ir Ts Dr Hj Mohmad Asari Daud, Director of Lembaga Urus Air Selangor (LUAS).
  • Prof (Adj) Ts Razim Faris Razim, Executive Director of Deca Water Bhd and Adjunct Professor (focusing on Water Technology Supply) at Universiti Geomatika Malaysia.

Another highlight at WaterTech Asia 2025 will be the “Country Spotlight” session by the Canadian delegation comprising representatives from the Canadian government and selected Canadian firms “with export-ready water and wastewater technologies, and the capacity to scale and pursue demonstration opportunities in the Indo-Pacific region”. They are part of the Canadian government’s “Advancing International Clean Technology Demonstrations” (AICTD) initiative that supports pilots and demonstrations of leading Canadian cleantech innovations with partners across Indo-Pacific markets.
