SWA Organises Saudi-Chinese Water Cooperation Forum

Saudi Water Authority (SWA) organised the Saudi-Chinese Water Cooperation Forum on the sidelines of the third Asia International Water Week (AIWW) in Beijing, China. The forum aims to enhance cooperation in the water sector between the Kingdom the People’s Republic of China, supporting investment, development and innovation opportunities in the water industry.

The forum was attended by Saudi Ambassador to the People’s Republic of China Abdulrahman bin Ahmed Al-Harbi, representatives from the Ministry of Investment and various water sector entities and several key representatives from government and private organisations in the water sector.

Investment in the water sector was among the major topics discussed at the forum, with the Ministry of Investment presenting available opportunities in the Kingdom and the importance of global partnerships in advancing the water sector and its innovations to tackle pressing global challenges. Representatives of Chinese companies attending the forum showcased modern solutions, green technologies and innovations that enhance water supply-chain efficiency, as well as ways to strengthen cooperation between the Kingdom and China in water and renewable energy sectors.

The forum saw the signing of six agreements to bolster water partnerships between Saudi Arabia and China, besides nearly 35 presentations addressing key water issues and showcasing best practices, latest trends, opportunities and global challenges.

The forum concluded with representatives from Saudi water entities showcasing localising the water industry in the Kingdom, efforts to enhance innovation in water treatment and reuse and future projects in the supply chain, from production to transport, distribution, storage, treatment and reuse, contributing to realising the national objectives under the Saudi Vision 2030 and the National Water Strategy.
