Molecor Strengthens Its Carbon Footprint Reduction Strategy and Moves Towards Climate Neutrality
At Molecor SEA, sustainability is closely linked to the broader environmental strategy of the Molecor Group. As part of this commitment, Molecor has published its 2025 Organizational Carbon Footprint Report, outlining the progress achieved in decarbonisation, energy efficiency and the circular economy across its production facilities.
The publication of this report also coincides with two dates that draw attention to some of the main environmental challenges of our time: World Energy Saving Day, observed on 21 October, and International Day against Climate Change, on 24 October. This provides a valuable opportunity to share Molecor’s progress and demonstrate, through concrete data, how the measures adopted are helping to reduce its climate impact.
The results presented in the report refer to Molecor’s organisational carbon footprint and reflect the Group’s progress towards its goal of achieving climate neutrality (Net Zero) by 2040. In 2025, considering Scopes 1, 2 and 3 combined, Molecor’s total carbon footprint decreased by 3.19% compared with the previous year.
The reduction was particularly significant in Scopes 1 and 2, where emissions fell by 19.91% compared with 2024. This progress was achieved alongside growing business activity and production, highlighting the impact of the measures implemented by Molecor to progressively decouple business growth from greenhouse gas emissions. Improvements in carbon intensity indicators also reflect progress towards a more efficient growth model with lower emissions intensity.
Scope 3, which accounts for more than 90% of Molecor’s total organisational carbon footprint, recorded a 1.33% decrease compared with the previous year. According to the report, this reduction was mainly driven by lower emissions associated with fuel- and energy-related activities, as well as improvements in waste management.
The results also identify the value chain as a key area for further emissions reductions, particularly in raw material procurement and supplier collaboration. In this context, Molecor continues to promote circular economy and decarbonization initiatives throughout its operations and value chain.
The energy transition has been another important driver of this progress. In 2025, 46.72% of the electricity consumed by Molecor came from renewable sources, representing an increase of 11.8 percentage points compared with the previous year.
Molecor’s commitment to renewable energy also delivered measurable results. In 2025, the company avoided 6,229.98 tonnes of CO₂e emissions, 9.44% more than in 2024. These avoided emissions represent 33.79% of the emissions that would have been generated without the renewable energy measures implemented by the company.
Alongside the energy transition, the circular economy remains an important element of Molecor’s decarbonisation strategy. In 2025, the use of recycled and reprocessed PVC as a substitute for virgin raw materials avoided 28,631.57 tonnes of CO₂e emissions, an 18.1% increase compared with the previous year. These results underline the role that circularity can play in reducing emissions and supporting more efficient use of resources.
Looking ahead, Molecor consolidated its Decarbonisation Plan in 2025, developed in accordance with the principles of the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) and aligned with the objectives of the Paris Agreement.
The plan establishes a target for 2030 of reducing Scope 1 and 2 emissions by 42% compared with 2023 levels, while Scope 3 emissions are targeted for a 20% reduction compared with 2024 levels. To strengthen transparency and facilitate access to this information, Molecor has prepared an executive summary of its 2025 Organizational Carbon Footprint, available on the corporate website. The document summarises the main results and progress achieved during the year in decarbonization, energy efficiency and the circular economy.
For Molecor SEA, being part of a Group with these environmental objectives reinforces its commitment to promoting efficient and innovative solutions for water infrastructure across Southeast Asia, while contributing to Molecor’s broader transition towards a low-carbon model based on innovation, energy efficiency, circular economy principles and value-chain decarbonisation.
