SWAN Unveils Expanded AsiaWater 2026 Workshop Agenda with Senior Keynote Speakers from SPAN and the Malaysian Water Association

High-level regional workshop to spotlight digital innovation, resilience and practical strategies for building smarter water utilities across Asia.

The Smart Water Networks Forum (SWAN) will convene water sector leaders, regulators, utilities and technology experts on 8 April at AsiaWater 2026 for an interactive half-day workshop focused on advancing digital transformation and resilience across Asia’s water sector.

Held at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (KLCC), the workshop, “Smart Water for Inclusive Growth: Building Resilient Utilities Across Asia,” will bring together leaders from across the region to explore how utilities can use digital tools, data and collaboration to improve performance, reduce water loss and strengthen long-term water security.

The session is open to all AsiaWater attendees.

The agenda features two senior keynote speakers. Noorhashim Baron, Executive Director of the Technical Division at SPAN – National Water Services Commission, will deliver the keynote “Building Resilient Utilities Across Asia.” He will be joined by Mohamad Hairi Basri, President of the Malaysian Water Association, who will present “Driving Resilience Across Malaysia’s Water Sector.”

These keynote addresses will frame a practical and solutions-focused programme aligned with AsiaWater’s 2026 theme, “Building Nations: Leveraging Technology-Driven Water Growth for Inclusive Services.”

A featured panel discussion, “The Invisible Challenge: Making Every Drop Count,” will examine one of the sector’s most pressing issues: non-revenue water. Moderated by Mark Nicol, Commercial Director at HWM Global, the panel will include Dwike Riantara, former Managing Director of PDAM Tirta Mayang; Nandakumar E, CEO of the International Centre for Clean Water; and Nor Suhada Hasan, Head of Technology at Ranhill Technologies.

“By bringing together voices from across the region to share their unique experiences, such workshops offer utilities innovative ‘out of the box’ ideas to improve efficiency, resilience and service delivery for communities,” added Nandakumar E, CEO of the International Centre for Clean Water.

The workshop will also feature interactive roundtable sessions on leak detection and prevention, AI and digital twins, smart metering and digital pathways to net-zero wastewater operations. A closing fireside chat, “From Trials to Transformation – Lessons from Global Digital Programmes,” will feature Raghu Bharadwaj, Managing Director of R3 & G3 Consulting and Punita Nook Naidu, Co-Founder and CEO of H2O DataTech.

The session will be opened and concluded by Zolboo Dashmyagmar, Asia-Pacific Lead at SWAN Forum.

As utilities across Asia respond to mounting pressure from climate uncertainty, urban growth, aging infrastructure, and rising service expectations, the SWAN workshop at AsiaWater 2026 is set to provide an important platform for regional exchange, practical insight, and sector collaboration.
