Veolia, the First Company to Implement Advanced PFAS Treatment in Singapore

Veolia announces that its hazardous waste treatment facility in Singapore has been granted recently the country’s first license by the National Environment Agency (NEA) for treating aqueous film-forming foam (AFFF) containing PFAS, as part of its innovative BeyondPFAS offering. This marks the first regulatory approval in Singapore for the high-temperature thermal treatment of PFAS-based firefighting foams, enabling Veolia to further support Singapore in environmental protection and proper waste management, particularly in the phased-out of firefighting foams containing PFOA, PFOS and PFHxS, effective from 1 January 2026.
Veolia’s BeyondPFAS solutions represent a breakthrough in the treatment of targeted PFAS. From 1st January 2026, all companies storing or using fire-fighting foams containing PFOA, PFOS, PFHxS, their salts and related compounds at or above their respective statutorily defined threshold concentrations are required to engage Toxic Industrial Waste Collectors (TIWCs) holding an NEA license to collect and dispose of such AFFF. Veolia’s licensed facility will therefore play a key role in offering compliant, safe and proven disposal pathways for these substances.
This first-of-its-kind license from the NEA validates our advanced BeyondPFAS solutions and reinforces Singapore’s position as a regional leader in environmental innovation.
