QUA Expands Membrane Portfolio with EnviQ® RF 30, a Compact, Ready-to-Install MBR Technology for Decentralised Wastewater Treatment

  • EnviQ® RF 30 is a compact membrane module for membrane bioreactor and submerged ultrafiltration applications, enabling decentralised water and wastewater treatment, flexible deployment where space and integration are critical.
  • Built on QUA’s EnviQ RF membrane technology, it combines reinforced hollow-fibre construction, dual airflow distribution and backwash capability for stable operation and extended membrane life.
  • A deployment at a commercial hub in Noida, India, achieved up to 95% water recovery for non-potable reuse, while reducing fouling, cleaning frequency and downtime.

QUA, a global manufacturer of advanced membrane technologies for water and wastewater treatment, has launched EnviQ® RF 30, a compact membrane unit for membrane bioreactor (MBR) and submerged ultrafiltration (UF) applications, proven under demanding conditions and now launching globally.

Based on QUA’s established and proven EnviQ product line, the solution uses reinforced hollow-fibre ultrafiltration membrane technology to enable capital-efficient, rapid installation of decentralized treatment systems.

Reliability, proven in the field
Ahead of its global launch, EnviQ® RF 30 proved itself in a genuinely tough deployment at a commercial hub in India: it was retrofitted into an existing plant, replacing a failed membrane system under high, variable loads, restoring reliable treatment without a full rebuild being required.

The plant produced treated water of consistent quality for reuse and non-potable applications, achieving up to 95% water recovery while meeting local reuse requirements and significantly reducing freshwater consumption. That performance is backed by QUA’s own track record: decade-plus service life from its UF membranes, and further EnviQ MBR system deployments already in the field.

Compact and flexible design, built for OEM integration
Developed in response to customer demand, EnviQ® RF 30 is a compact, module-only platform that OEMs and system integrators can build directly into their own equipment.

It combines reinforced PVDF hollow-fibre construction, dual airflow distribution and backwash capability. These features support stable membrane operation, optimised power use and cleaning frequency, and extended membrane life, while producing high product water quality under challenging wastewater conditions.

Its reinforced PVDF hollow-fibre membrane is built to withstand the mechanical stress that causes conventional fibres to weaken and break under demanding conditions, delivering strong fouling resistance and stable pressure performance over time, while simplifying system integration.

QUA’s broader EnviQ technology is already established in the US: Munson Point Subdivision in Texas uses QUA’s EnviQ MBR system for onsite wastewater treatment, discharging safely to Lake Texoma, reflecting the same philosophy of flexible, high-quality decentralised treatment that RF 30 extends to OEM-integrated applications.

Affordability, without the infrastructure overhead
Decentralised treatment avoids the cost and disruption of large, purpose-built infrastructure. Munson Point, at a subdivision level, and the solution in Noida, India, show the benefit of replacing central infrastructure with a compact, site-fitted system.

By providing effective treatment capacity in small modules, EnviQ RF 30 enables system integrators to design around site-specific space constraints without compromising on quality or ease of operation. This flexibility supports expansions to existing treatment systems and replacement of existing treatment capacity.

EnviQ® RF 30 is suitable for a wide range of applications, including industrial wastewater recycling, residential and decentralised wastewater treatment, sewage treatment for commercial/IT campuses/hospitals and RO pre-treatment.

Technical information

Water reuse is an increasingly urgent business issue. According to the World Economic Forum, by 2030, global freshwater demand is predicted to exceed supply by 40%[1]. This will affect all aspects of life, including industry and manufacturing. A World Bank report sets out how ‘water reuse stands out as a financially sound and environmentally responsible approach’ to address some of the projected shortfall[2], suggesting that industrial and potable reuse could increase from a 2025 installed base of 53 million m3/d to 430 million m3/d by 2040.
