LANXESS Wins Sustainability Award for PFAS Removal Technology
Innovation helps meet increasingly stringent drinking water requirements and industrial water discharge limits.
LANXESS, a global specialty chemicals company and solutions provider, received a 2026 Sustainability Leadership Award from the American Chemistry Council (ACC) for its innovative technology used to protect public drinking water, surface and groundwater systems.
Presented at the ACC’s 2026 Responsible Care® Ceremony, the “Environmental Protection Leadership Award” recognises LANXESS for its innovation in addressing one of society’s most urgent environmental and public health challenges: reducing per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS), often referred to as ‘forever chemicals’, in drinking water sources.

LANXESS’ award-winning solution combines two products from the company’s Liquid Purification Technologies business unit: Lewatit® TP 108 DW and Lewatit® MDS TP 108. The innovative Advanced PFAS Selective Ion Exchange Platform selectively removes PFAS to very low residual levels in water sources, including municipal drinking water systems and industrial wastewater streams. This advanced treatment platform is engineered for greater efficiency and longer operational life than traditional treatment methods, helping utilities and industrial operators meet increasingly stringent regulatory limits for PFAS in water systems, improving quality and sustainability performance.

The platform has been successfully deployed in real-world applications such as municipal utilities and industrial wastewater treatment plants worldwide.
