Asian Water: How do you perceive the water industry landscape in the Asia Pacific region?

Salcon: Opportunities remain as water/wastewater infrastructure is essential for growth, security and sustainability. Despite relatively high water availability, most APAC countries face water stress primarily due to uneven distribution of water. With about 1 billion people residing in urban centers in the Pacific regions, we expect to see significant growth in water management Investments driven by population growth and improving economies.

Therefore, while challenges such as water stress and pollution persist, the Asia Pacific region offers significant opportunities for water companies like Salcon to contribute to sustainable development and economic growth through investments in water management infrastructure and technologies. By addressing these challenges and leveraging emerging trends, water companies can play a vital role in ensuring access to clean water and sanitation for communities across the region.

Asian Water: What challenges do you identify within the industry, and how does your company offer solutions to address these challenges?

Salcon: Non-revenue water (NRW) reduction remains a top priority for many water utilities. At Salcon, we leverage on our proven track record and technical expertise to address this challenge effectively. We have successfully developed and implemented holistic NRW reduction strategies for our clients, both domestically and internationally i.e. in Sandakan, Sabah, Kelantan, Seremban & Nilai districts in Negeri Sembilan, and even in overseas projects in China.

Our approach to NRW reduction encompasses a range of cost-effective solutions tailored to the specific needs of each client. These solutions may include advanced leak detection technologies, asset management systems, pressure management strategies, and proactive maintenance programmes. By deploying these measures, we not only help utilities reduce water losses but also optimise their operations, resulting in significant cost savings in both capital and operational expenditure.
