ABB’s Measurement and Analytics Showcases UviTec™, its Comprehensive Optical-based Water Quality Monitoring Platform
Mohammed Asraf, Local Division Manager, ABB Measurement & Analytics Division, Malaysia
Asian Water: What solutions or technologies are you showcasing at ASIAWATER 2026, and how do they address current challenges in the water and wastewater industry?
This year, ABB’s Measurement and Analytics division will be showcasing UviTec™, its comprehensive optical-based water quality monitoring platform.
Based on patented technologies, UviTec™ uses spectrophotometric and fluorescence measuring techniques to deliver lab-quality water analysis results in the process environment. It enables rapid detection of a wide range of water quality parameters and compounds in real time.
Unlike traditional water quality testing which can take days in lab conditions, the products in the UviTec™ portfolio provide critical measurements immediately. The UviTec™ analyzers used for measuring organic levels in water deliver accurate results in five seconds, instead of five days like traditional lab-testing, saving time and money while improving safety and efficiency.
Beyond portable field testing, ABB is showcasing its comprehensive water management and water analysis portfolio. Visitors will be able to see products for continuous water analysis, including the next-generation AWT424 transmitter designed to simplify and unify water measurement. The transmitter allows operators to connect and control up to four sensors simultaneously in a single device. It enables a holistic view of water quality that is essential for process control in complex industrial operations.
ABB is also highlighting its pressure, level and flow measurement offering to the water and wastewater industry, including the AquaMaster flowmeter which measures water passing through the network in real time down to flow velocities lower than 0.1m/s and detects leaks faster than many conventional solutions. Simultaneously, the LLT100 laser level transmitter provides efficient level measurement of liquids for applications such as wastewater wet wells and lift stations, clear water level measurement, sludge processing and foam control, and chemical and storage tank monitoring.

Asian Water: What key trends are shaping the water sector in Asia right now, and how is your company adapting to meet the region’s growing sustainability and infrastructure needs?
There has been a wide gamut of trends across Asia’s water sector. Some key trends we’ve seen include, growing attention to water quality, emerging contaminants and environmental sustainability; a focus on the reduction of Non-Revenue Water (NRW); rapid digital transformation and smart water technologies; as well as climate resilience, extreme weather and water security risks.
Asian Water: What are your main objectives for participating in ASIAWATER 2026, and what kinds of partnerships or opportunities are you hoping to build during the event?
ABB helps industries run at high performance, while becoming more efficient, productive and sustainable so they outperform. At ABB, we call this ‘Engineered to Outrun’. There are many emerging trends in Asia that may pose a challenge to operators in the water and wastewater industries, some of which can be solved with the right solutions, which is what we provide.
We hope to build a foundation for strong, trusting partnerships with operators in the water and wastewater industries in Malaysia and beyond. Visit us at stand B823, Hall 8, Level 4 to speak to our team of experts and to understand how ABB can help you achieve safe, efficient, and sustainable operations.
