ASIAWATER 2026: Driving Asia’s Water Future Through Innovation and Collaboration
The 14th edition of ASIAWATER 2026 opened at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (KLCC), reaffirming its status as one of Asia’s most influential platforms for water and wastewater solutions. Held from 7–9 April 2026, the event brings together over 20,000 professionals from 52 countries, alongside more than 1,000 exhibiting brands, all focused on advancing resilient and technology-driven water systems.

Officiated by Datuk Amar Haji Fadillah bin Haji Yusof, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Energy Transition and Water Transformation, the event underscores the growing urgency of water security. His address highlighted how reliable water supply and effective wastewater management are fundamental to public health, economic growth and environmental sustainability. With Malaysia facing a Non-Revenue Water (NRW) rate of 37.1%—resulting in massive daily losses—he stressed the importance of integrated solutions combining technology, governance and financing.
Organised by Informa Markets Malaysia, this year’s theme, “Building Nations: Leveraging Technology-Driven Water Services for Inclusive Growth,” reflects a shift in how water is viewed—not just as infrastructure, but as a strategic national priority. Tan Sri Abdul Rahman Mamat, Chairman of Informa Markets Malaysia reinforced the need for cross-sector collaboration to tackle increasingly complex water challenges.
Spanning 16,000 square metres, the exhibition floor presents comprehensive solutions across:
- Water treatment and purification
- Wastewater management
- Smart water technologies
- Sustainable infrastructure
Participants gain exposure to cutting-edge innovations designed to improve efficiency, resilience, and lifecycle value across water systems.
A major strength of ASIAWATER 2026 lies in its robust conference lineup, featuring over 60 sessions. Highlights include:
- The ASIAWATER Conference (policy, financing and digital transformation)
- Technology Seminars (practical, solution-driven insights)
- Smart Water Networks Forum (digitalisation and monitoring systems)
- ASTRICE-IWK Seminar (wastewater efficiency)
- Regional Water Expert Dialogue (high-level collaboration)
- International Conference on Water and Environment for Sustainability 2026 bridging academia and industry
These platforms ensure that innovation is not only discussed but translated into real-world implementation.
Malaysia’s commitment to reducing NRW to 28.8% by 2030 reflects broader efforts in infrastructure upgrades, policy reform and sustainable water management. Initiatives such as integrated river basin management, water reuse and circular water economy models align closely with the nation’s energy transition goals.
Our industry partner, Gamuda Berhad, said, “Our priority is to strengthen water resilience for long-term economic and social progress. We provide end-to-end water solutions, spanning large-scale infrastructure and advanced treatment to distribution and urban renewal. We enhance delivery through the Gamuda Digital Operating System (GDOS), developed in collaboration with Autodesk Construction Cloud and Building Information Modelling (BIM). By ensuring dependable, high-quality water supply, we enable socio-economic growth.”
As climate change, urbanisation and rising demand intensify pressure on water resources, ASIAWATER 2026 stands out as a vital hub for collaboration, knowledge exchange and technological advancement. The event not only highlights current challenges but actively shapes the future of water management across Asia—making it an essential platform for industry professionals committed to building resilient, sustainable nations.
